Join as a Volunteer

Volunteers like you are always looking for meaningful opportunities to share their time and special talents. Skills-based volunteering not only helps nonprofits leverage specific skillsets within their daily operations, it enables individual volunteers the opportunity to be a part of creating lasting community-wide change. Heart of Illinois Volunteers Skills Link is dedicated to linking talented volunteers with nonprofits to impact our community. 

To join Skills Link:

  1. Answer a few questions about yourself, your experience, and your skills.
  2. Upload your profile photo.
  3. Once your response is received by the Heart of Illinois United Way, we approve your Skills Link profile and email you login in details. 
  4. Login to your account  and add more details about yourself. 
  5. Nonprofit partners in the Skills Link network can search volunteer profiles to connect with you through the network.
  6. Volunteers such as you can also browse nonprofit profiles to see if you have any skills that would benefit that agency’s needs or apply for posted opportunities.
